Salsa, the Spanish term for Sauce, is a great dip with chips or any Mexican appetizer; and also used in Mexican entree as a base sauce or as a side dipping sauce. Various kinds of salsa are served in different taquerias across the United States.
Ranging from the Red Hot or Mild, Roasted Pepper, Fruity like Mango or berries, Fresh and Chunky to the green Salsa Verde made of Tomatinas; Salsa is a must serve for every Mexican dish!
Ingredients
1/2 cup Onion, finely chopped
2-3 cloves Garlic, minced
1/2 cup finely diced Pepper
2 tbsp. Jalapeño, minced
1/2 cup Tomato Purée ( made of deseeded ripe Tomatoes)
Salt, Taco Seasoning, Pepper powder, Lime juice
Oil
Method
Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and sauté. Once it is cooked, add Jalapeño, onion and pepper. Sauté till they become soft. Add tomato purée and cook till the sauce thickens and develops a deep red color.
Add salt, taco seasoning, lime juice and pepper. Mix well and turn the flame down. The salsa can be made spicy by adding chilli powder or more jalapeño.
This salsa can be served with tacos, chips, burrito, Chimichanga etc.
