Recommendations for making simple sesame noodles.

In the beginning I was always afraid that Asian cuisine could be intimidating, that you would need special equipment and exotic flavors. However, this dish proves how simple and delicious they can be. I also like that I can arrange the ingredients, no message and a lower salt content makes this a healthier option.

In addition, you can easily increase the diet in this recipe by adding your favorite cooked protein. Sometimes I add leftover chicken or beef. I even added shrimp. You can add one of your favorite cooked vegetables in the same way. Carrots, broccoli, mushrooms and spinach are some of my favorite mix-ins.

Types of Asian noodles

To be honest, I use the noodles that I have at home when I make this dish. However, if you want to try and make it a real Asian experience, you may want to try some traditional noodles. Here are some examples to explore. Most can be found in the ethnic section of your local grocery or grocery store.

  • Soba noodles. Soba noodles are native to Japan, traditionally eaten on New Year's Eve as a symbol of a long life, but can of course be enjoyed at any time. They are made from buckwheat flour or buckwheat and wheat flour, water and salt.
  • Udon. Udon noodles are the thickest type of Japanese noodles, made from wheat flour, salt and water.
  • Windows. Windows are made from four basic ingredients: wheat flour, salt, water and kansui, a type of alkaline mineral water that contains sodium carbonate and usually potassium carbonate, as well as sometimes a small amount of phosphoric acid.
  • Rice. Made with rice flour and water.

These are just a few of the many noodles available on the market. In addition, if you have a gluten-free lifestyle, you can eat the buckwheat or rice noodles. Both are gluten-free options.
